I guess I never really took the time to realize how amazing life has been to me and how many awesome opportunities I have been given. When I first came to college in 2010, I was greeted with love encouragement and challenges. I knew these next four years would not be easy, but I also knew that I had an amazing support system to see me through. From then it was school, practice, track meets, awards banquets and a tad bit of vacation. But through it all I've always found a reason to be happy. When I look back on it now, I have so much to be thankful for and so much to work towards in the future.
High jump and I have had such a love hate relationship throughout my college years. So many bad performances have just made me feel like giving up, but they have also paved the way for those life changing performances.
One thing I've struggled to learn is that just because you are going through a rough period does not mean it's time to give. Now is the time to go out and try harder than before. Now is the time to put in those extra hours you've been thinking about doing but never got around to it. Now is the time to achieve those goals you set for yourself at the beginning of the season before you got put to the ultimate test. That is what I've learned, and that us what I am going to do. Yes, sitting at home all day on the couch can be relaxing and enjoyable but it's not what makes people successful. Go out, train hard, work hard, make mistakes, learn from them, and watch where your life will take you.
I know that I was put on this earth to inspire and change lives. The number one way I can do that is through doing what I love. Track has given me the opportunity to meet so many amazing people and learn so many things. I truly feel that these past four years have prepared me for this next chapter in life and I am more than ready.
