Hey hey! Right now I am at the airport waiting to fly to San Francisco/watching the USA vs. Germany game/blogging. Talk about multi-tasking. Lately, I haven't had much luck when it comes to blogging at the airport. A week and a half ago when I was on the plane back to Austin from Portland, I decided to write out a couple posts. When I have ideas in my head I like to write them down immediately because I'll probably end up forgetting if I don't.

Good Morning! I am so happy that it is finally summer! Before we get into today's outfit, I must share my summer plans with you. I am finishing up my last year as an athlete at the University of Texas and preparing for an exciting summer vacation.

Normally when we travel to Oregon I stick to eating at national chain restaurants. I guess this year I've become more of an experimental foodie because I've been wanting to try all of the local restaurants wherever we go. This trip I wasn't able to do much taste testing because I try to eat as healthy as possible before I compete and most of the popular restaurants around my hotel were fried food and pizza. I was able to try a few restaurants and most of them were delicious. Of course I had to stop at a dessert shop after I finished competing. What can I say, I love sweets.

Ah it's been a week since my last blog post. I've missed it so much. Although I wasn't posting any new articles, I've been creating new content and taking lots of pictures to share with you. So I guess it really wasn't a complete break. Now I'm back and ready to go back to my normal blogging schedule. I have so many posts planned and so many great adventures to document so make sure to stay updated.
Moving on to the point of this post.. Nationals. My last national championship as a collegiate athlete and it was nothing short of amazing. We went into the meet hoping to win a team national title, and we fought hard for it.
I ended up placing fourth in the high jump. No, it wasn't exactly what I wanted, but I have to be grateful. I jumped a season's best and was able to score valuable points for my team. All of my teammates did so amazing. We had two girls win national titles and the 4x400m relay set a collegiate record! Overall we ended up getting 2nd as a team. It's wasn't the ending we all had hoped for, but we have to be proud of ourselves and the progress we've made this year. I'm going to leave you with some pictures from this past week. Enjoy and I will talk to you on Wednesday!

We finally made it to Eugene, Oregon after a four hour flight and two hour bus ride. It has been a long day of traveling and I am so happy to finally be in bed writing this post. The weather today was perfect. Can it stay this temperature all week please? Not too cold. Not too hot. Just pure perfection. Oregon has been treating me well so far. From the weather to the people, I always feel so welcome when I visit.

I'm leaving tomorrow for Oregon, and of course I still have a million things to do. I don't know why I always put off everything until the last minute. I haven't packed, I need to get my eyebrows waxed, and my toenails are crying for some attention. O the joys of procrastination. Everything will get done . It always does. How late I'll to have to stay up to get it all done is another story. I am so excited to be going back to Oregon though. I've been there every year for the past four years and its beauty never ceases to amaze me. I always find something new to love about the state every time I visit.

Today I really wanted to talk about my mom. Maybe it's because we got off the phone right before I started writing this article, or the fact that I never got a chance to post something for Mother's Day because I hadn't started my blog yet. Better late than never right? To be honest, any day is a good day to talk about my sweet mama. My mom has been nothing short of the perfect parent. She has always been there to support me and she has never left my side. I remember growing up she would wake up every morning during the week (and I mean every morning) to make us breakfast and make sure we had everything we needed for school that day. I definitely would not be where I am today without her. I know that is so cliché but it is the absolute truth. She was the one who pushed me to stick with track and field and because of it I was able to attend the best university in the world on a full scholarship. I remember all those days I felt like quitting, but she made me continue because she knew what I was capable of and she wanted to see me succeed.

I guess I never really took the time to realize how amazing life has been to me and how many awesome opportunities I have been given. When I first came to college in 2010, I was greeted with love encouragement and challenges. I knew these next four years would not be easy, but I also knew that I had an amazing support system to see me through. From then it was school, practice, track meets, awards banquets and a tad bit of vacation. But through it all I've always found a reason to be happy. When I look back on it now, I have so much to be thankful for and so much to work towards in the future.

I made it to nationals!! After such a stressful week, I can finally take a sigh of relief. We got back to Austin last night after a long day of traveling, and I couldn't be happier to be home. I've missed my boyfriend and pet bunny so much! A relaxing day is really all I am looking forward to today, but I can't relax too much because nationals is right around the corner. I'll be leaving for Eugene, Oregon on Sunday and staying for an entire week. I cannot wait to share my experiences with you all so make sure to stay updated!
